V-50 washes away competition in lab tests.

In BioChem lab tests, V-50, with its super surfactant package, outperformed
leading competitive products by a wide margin. In one test, cosmoline, one of
the heaviest greases, was applied to test coupons and immersed in both V-50
and the leading competitive product. V-50 was 100 percent effective in
removing the cosmoline, while the competition only removed about 10 percent!

V-50 does not need to be heated.

V-50 cleans effectively at room temperature. A large majority of the new
water-based cleaners on the market today must be heated to around 150°F to be
effective. "V-50 can be heated and the user may experience increased benefits
from heating," remarked Sears, "but heating is not required for the cleaner to
be effective."

V-50 reduces cost associated with waste disposal.

BioChem has also increased the flash point to 145°F, which makes V-50
non-hazardous. This, combined with the fact that V-50 is completely
biodegradable, significantly reduces cost associated with disposal. If the
solution contains no hazardous material from the cleaning process, V-50 can
simply be filtered, neutralized with baking soda and safely washed down the
drain. 

V-50 can be filtered and reused.

According to Sears, V-50 will last from four to six months in a properly
maintained parts washer system. "With a proper filtration system, the user will
only need to change his filters and top off the tank."

The deadline is past for Southern California businesses to replace petroleum-based solvents with water-based cleaners in their parts washers and machine shops! It wont be long until all states must comply!

 This requirement came in 1999's landmark ruling from the South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD). 

This same ruling also created an incentive for businesses to use a special category of AQMD-certified cleaners called Clean Air Solvents. These solvents must meet even stricter requirements than the rule for volatility and smog-forming potential. Users are then exempt from record-keeping requirements and emissions fees under the AQMD mandate covering solvent cleaning operations.

BioChem Systems is taking the situation seriously. "Even though our Bio T General Purpose Cleaner is certified as a "Clean Air Solvent" and is being used in the Southern California market, our research and development team has continued to pursue the ultimate water-based cleaner for parts washer systems. In developing V-50, according to Sean Sears, BioChem research and development chemist, "we increased the surfactant package by 10 times, creating a "super surfactant" package which includes an extremely good wetting agent, strong emulsifier and high detergency."

According to Sears, V-50 exceeds all of the AQMD requirements for Clean Air Solvents and provides an excellent alternative for existing petroleum-based solvents:

• 50 grams per liter or less of smog-forming volatile organic
compounds.
• Less reactive to the atmosphere than toluene.
• No toxic constituents.
• No ingredients that contribute to global warming or deplete the earth’s protective ozone layer, which filters out harmful solar radiation. 
• A low vapor pressure.
• A relatively low smog formation rate.
